ter home. William Walter of Hood River was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace May and went to the fair with them. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Reynolds returned home September 10 from a vacation trip to Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons. Mrs. Maude Bevens of Bend returned to her home Thursday after spending a week visiting her sister, Mrs. I’earl Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ketter. Miss Lucile Peetz of The Dalles spent a week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ketter re cently. Mr. and Mrs. John Buether of Redmond were here for the Sher man County Fair last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens were hosts at a dinner Thursday evening honoring her mother, Mrs. W. D. Barnett on her birth day anniversary. Other guests in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Olan Stark and family. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peters and Odell Loyd. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Barnett and son, Keith, came later and had ice cream and cake with them. The Grass Valley grade school opened September 10 with an en rollment of 81 pupils, divided as follows 13 in kindergarten with Mrs. Bertha Brinkert, teacher; 13 in the first and 10 in the sec ond with Mrs. Dorothy Blugg, teacher; 1G in the third grade with Mrfc. Rhoda West, teacher; 11 in the fourth and 12 in the fifth with Mrs. Helen Hill, teacher; 5 in the sixth, 8 in the seventh and G in the eighth with Dean Woods, teacher and principal. John Bust is custodian and drives the little bus, other bus drivers are Ken neth Todd, Lyle Olds and Boyce Blaylock. Mrs. Sim Duncan is cook again this year.
