Efforts to establish one In Sherman >ounty Iras been unfruitful. It Is a simple oiwration to form a rural protection district. It re quires u petition by 25 percent of tile property owners and not event an election unless objection is filed. Five directors are elected and the district has authority to levy a tax. THIS MONTH During this month the entrants dose on the greatest American sporting event, an event that oc curs every four years. It will draw more betting money than tin* world series, will have more followers than high school basket hall, will cost more money than the Olympic games. Its adherent* claim that the re sult has an influence on the lives of every citizen hut have seldom iwen able to prove it. The results have sometimes delayed the poll- des of government and some times hastened, hut change is something different. In a people’s government the weakness is that the people rob the government by their demands and the politicians either aid them for votes or retard them by de lay. The more delay the longer In this county more than nine- tenths of the assessed valuation 1 r outside of Incorporated towns which makes the conditions some what different thun in other areas where rural fire protection districts usually exist. Towns are not often a part of the district although some small towns are Included.
