W. Johnson of Aloha and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Michaels of Portland were over night guests of the R. M John sons on th eir way home from a two weeks trip thru Nevada, Arizona and other places. They saw the G rand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, G rand Coulee and the Yellowstone park They drove th ru a sand storm , a blizzard and a snow storm . The Rufus Tavern, owned by Mr. and Mrs E rnie Johnson, was sold to a party reportably from near The Dalles. No details were learned. Mr. Johnson has been in ill health for the past few months after suffering a heart attack, and has spent most of the time w ith a daughter living near Portland. Glen Thompson was taken to a hospital in Portland Monday mor ning after he suffered w hat they thought was a stroke Saturday night. Glen w as in fair health un til a couple weeks ago, when he began not feeling so well. The Thompsons w ere married here at Wasco over 50 years ago and have lived in the county most of the time. The Rufus people all had to see how a small truck with a horse In the back pulling a house trailer could go off the highway Just a few hundred feet west of the R u fus Tavern and not h urt the horse. The accident happened Sunday af ternoon, and it was evening before everything was pulled back onto the highway, and the unidentified man reportedly on his way to Tygh Valley.
