Sy Thompson and family were down Friday and Saturday to vis it relatives and friends and also to sell part of a truck load of frozen poultry to Sherman coun- tians getting tired of beef. Wendell Balsiger was in Salem Wednesday where he appeared as a witness on behalf of the grain growers in opposition to the min imum rate bill Introduced by Sen ator Steen of Umatilla county. Local sentiment is that the bill would prevent any reductions in freight rates and endanger the continuance of this railroad branch. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hoskinson ,w ere in Corvallis for father’s day at OSC and to visit tiheir son, Bob, a student there. Harlandvlew grange will hold a pot luck dinner next Saturday at 6:30 and a social evening af terward and a short meeting. Wednesday nights there is square dancing at 7: 30 to 10. Art Justesen is staying at the Sparlings in Portland since getting out of the hospital after a serious operation on his hip. He and Mrs. Justesen expect to return to Sher man county before long. Clarence Morrison is out again after an operation for a crushed disc in his back and says he’ll be as good as new pretty soon. Arthur Justesen went to Heppner last week to at tend the funeral of George B. Mc Donald, 79, her last paternal uncle, who lived at Hardman for 50 years. He was born in Canada and was never married. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burnet were in Portland the first of tihe week on business.
