Other candidates have failed to show strength and w ill not be nominated unless there Is a stale mate between the two leaders. In popularity in eastern Oregon Eisenhower is ahead. There are several reasons fo r this and per haps they are not easily stated. M any Republicans feel that it is so necessary to change the ad m inistration that anyone w ith the best chance of w inning should be nominated. They are picking the best candidate and not necessar ~tly the best president. Borne ex press themselves directly in that vein. Some dislike T aft apparently fo r no logical reason but because he has been criticised so strongly by labor over the T a ftJ ia rtle v b ill.
