ing qu ality of the m ore-w heat
bread, ten loaves of D illons’ new
“ F arm B read” w ere air-express
ed from H utchinson, Kansas, to
Pendleton. Oregon. The execu
tive com m ittee of the Oregon
W heat G row ers le a g u e and the
m em bers of the Oregon W heat
com m ission w ere holding a joint
m eeting on M arch >31, w hen the
Dillon bread was given a “teste
te st” by these bread consum ers.
A lthough the bread was three
days old, it was not d ry or stale.
The unanim ous opinion of those
a t the m eeting w as th a t the
bread w as superior in taste to
the
average bakery
product.
Desirable qualities of th e loaf
were, the firm tex tu re, pleasant
taste, and thick slices. All at the
m eeting agreed the bread tasted
m ore like the home-made pro
duct. I t w as also pointed out
th a t this was not a specialty^
loaf as it weighed 22^» ounces
com pared to the average 21
ounce loaf and 9old for on y
one cent a pound higher.

clple w ith the bakers in Oregon
A cam paign has started w ith th e
targe bakeries in Oregon. They
have the
Dillon form ula
for
farm bread and c6n w ork out
In th eir own bakeshop a process
by v/hich m ore flour can be
added to each loaf.
Dillons have added six pounds
of whole w heat flour, ten pounds
of w hite flour and subtracted
nine pounds of w ater from their
form ula.
