- l J PAG E «1 BKRRMAN COUNTY JOURNAL, MORO, OREGON Moro Mr. and Mrs. Carrel Bennett and son, David, left Friday mor ning to spend the week end in Portland with his parents who were coming down from Wash ington to meet them Armistice Day was a very quiet time around Moro with all stores closed and most of the people somewhere else for th* holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Belshee left Saturday* morning for Portland to spend a few days before going into Washington to vist Mr. and Mrs. John DeMoss at Hansville and her son at Port Angeles. They expect to be gone two weeks or more. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 194» T j>Bt Saturday Mr. and Mrs. childro» were guests at the Lloyd Johnson for dinner, 22 Dick Morgan and all of their home of their daughter, Mrs. being seated at the table. Giles French went to La Grande Tuesday night to speak before the state convention of the Oregon Farm Bureau on re- apportionment of the legislature. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin VanGll- der went to Portland Wednes day where he will have a medi cal examination. Mr. and Mrs. G. Douma and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peters drove over the new Warm Springs highway last Sunday and were at the dedication of the Mill creek bridge 'Vern Arstill was in Portland Wedneseday to look over his new models for 1950. The Dalles $2.30 a pt. k _ it A check for $7,248.44 in pay ment of 1949 real and personal taxes on Pacific Power & Light company in Sherman county was turned over to the county by Lawrence Kirby*, local man ager for the utility. This year’s Sherman county payment was 34 per cent larger than last year’s, Kirby said, and was part of more than $944,000 paid by the company to 15 Ore gon counties in advance of the November 15 due date. Kirby said that total direct taxes carried by the Pacific system this year will exceed $3jXX),000. _________ SHANIKO Ken Zachary .
