Refreshments w ere ser ved at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Earl Olds and Mrs. Zeig ler. The next meeting will be held at the Masonic hall Thurs day November 3. The members are fixing boxes to go to Feder ation of Children. Marx and family brought Sharon Cantrall home Sunday and spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cantrall. Sharon went down to The Dalles Friday af ternoon to spend the week end with her uncle and a u n t , Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cantrall arrived Sunday from Portland to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cantrall and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Duncan. They returned to the city Monday af ternoon. There w ill be a special speak er at the Baptist church this Sunday. Dr. Jack Miner is an ap pointee, under the Conservative Baptist m ission board, to go to China in the near future. He w ill bring the morning message and show slides during the even ing service. The American Legion auxili ary m et for Its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Hans Bar- denhagen W ednesday afternoon. Among those present were Mrs Ed A lley, Mrs. Charles Perrlgo, Mrs. Gene Reynolds, Mrs. Don ald von Borstei, Mrs. John Bue- ther, Mrs. Ted von Borstei. Mrs. Frank von Borstei stopped a while on her way to Portland where she attended the presi dent and secretary conference, for the auxiliary acting on the “Gifts for the Yanks who Gave.” Refreshm ents were served at the close of the m eeting by the host ess. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Balzer and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Balzer motored to Portland Sunday to spend the day* visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Balzer and family. Mrs. Ted Trimble and her mo ther, Mrs. L ew is Olds, returned home Wednesday from Warm Springs where they spent a week Mr. and Mrs. Andy Patjens of Shaniko brought Mrs. Marg arita von Borstei of Oregon City up Thursday to v isit her daugh ter, Mrs. Alfred Kock and family.
