Mr. and Mrs. Roy* Schilling and son Gary, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Coon were business visitors in The Dalles Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schilling, Mrs. James Easter, Mrs. Wayne Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith and Glenn Perry went to Kent Friday afternoon to see the foot ball game between the Grass Valley grade school team ar.d the Kent grade school team with Grass Valley winning by one point, 7-6. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Reynolds were business visitors in The Dalles Saturday and Mr. and S I A T F ife I D f FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1949 Mrs. Edgar Alley and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Bar nett were visitors Friday*. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnson of Spokane, Wn., are the parents of a daughter born Thursday, September 29 at the Spokane hospital. The baby was named Carmen Helen and weighed sev en pounds and twelve ounces Mr. and- Mrs. Tommie Barnett are the baby’s grandparents. Grass Valley is pretty well de serted this week as many went deer hunting. Some returned Monday* evening, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Fields with a buck but Boyce Blaylock and Clyde Strad- le / had no luck. Bill Johnson and son, John, and his mother, Mrs. Florence Johnson from Missoula, Mon tana spent the week -end here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Barnett. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cox return ed Wednesday from Corvallis IV I D I C A L a n where they spent a week visit ing their daughter, Mrs. A1 Ro berts and family*. Mrs. Arzell Lemley and Mrs. Charles I^emley spent Monday afternoon visiting with Mrs. Jesse Helyer and Mrs. Herman Schilling at the Helyer home. Mr. and Mrs. Del Eakin of The Dalles spent Friday and Saturday1 visiting at the home of their daughter, Mrs^ Mvrl Smith and family. Marion Van Metre and son, Ronney of The Dalles spent Saturday and Sunday at the Myrl Smith home. Mrs. Alfred Kock spent Satur day visiting Mrs. Orville Ruggles while Mr. Kock helped Mr. Rug gles pour cement as they are putting in a basement and build ing on a bedroom and enlarging the front room. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Clodfel- ter and son, Wendell, left this Friday for Portland to attend the Pacific Inter nation Exposi tion and to visit his parents Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Clodfelter. Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith and son, L arry went to Shaniko Sunday to spend the day with her mother, Mrs. Maude Garrett. Mr. Smith, Billy and Bob Gar rett and James Phifer went deer hunting but had no luck. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Blaylock were visi,jtors in The Dalles Mon day. Mrs. Boyce Blavlock and child ren motored to The Dalles Sun day where they met her sister. Mrs. C. L. Tallman and family from Hood River for a picnic. They all went to Celilo to watch the Indians fish. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shan non and family of Gresham*sp°rti the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Ruggles. Mrs. Herman Schilling of Tha Dalles spent the week end with her daughter, Mrs Jesse Helyer while Mr. Helyer went deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perrigo and daughters went to Shaniko Sunday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. James Phifer Mrs. W. C. Schilling and dau ghters came up Thursday from Cottage Grove to visit relatives at Moro and here They* stayed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Schilling. w They left Sundav for their home accompanied bv her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Everett CantrnB came up from Portland to spend the weekends at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cantrall. Mr. and Mrs. John Rolfe went to Portland Saturday to attend the football game. Mrs. Earl Olds. Mrs. Herman Zeigler, Mrs. Frank Bayer Jr.. Mrs. T. M. Rolfe and Mrs. B. C. Baumgartner went to Moro last 'Tuesday afternoon to-attend the Federation of Women’s clubs district convention. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Marx and family, who have been staving with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Can- trail have moved to The Dalles and will live at an auto court until they find a house. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stradlev of The Dalles spent the week end at the homeof Mr. and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crews Henry Roth Jr. and family. Mrs. Clyde Stradley. and family took her mother, Roth spent several months here Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Balzer motored to Portland Saturday to visit at the home of their son, Ralph Balzer and family return ing home Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Dugger and Mrs. John Rust and daughter, Phyllis, attended the farewell party at Moro Thursday even ing for Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dou- ma. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cox and Mrs. T. M. Rolfe were business visitors in The Dalles Saturday. Bruce Alley motored to Port land Saturday to attend the foot ball game and to bring Mrs. Al ley and children home after ¿Vending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Mayme Gould. Mr., and Mrs. Bert Cox went to Kent the last of the week to stay at the Hod McKay ranch while they are gone a few days on a vacation to the coast. Fred Cox left Thursday for Vancouver to spend a few days at the home of his mother, Airs. Emma Cox. Rev. and Mrs. A. L. Kintne." left Sunday for Yakima, Wash., where he was called to the bed side of his father who is verv ill. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bayer Sr. left Friday for Carlton, Wash., to spend several days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Guy Vintin. Willis Brittain of Tygh Valley was a business visitor here Tues day and Wednesday.
