Odd-Fellows Entertain ' Grand Master The Grass Valley Odd .Fellow lodge m et at its hall,W ednesday evening, w hen Dr, E arl Ivie of Hood River, g ran d m aster of Oregon Odd Fellows was present when the third degree was confer red on a class of local candidates and others from visiting lodges. Dr. Ivie spoke on fraternal m at ters d uring the evening and short taiks were made by a num ber of officers of visiting lodges w’hich included Cascade T/ydrs. Hood River, .Mosier. The Dalles, and Antelope. Fred Krusow. the onlv living charter m em ber of the G rass Valley lodge gave some in> teresting rem iniscences o f earlv dav m eetings of the lod<m w h’^b was Instituted i n 1895. Mr Krusow who is 93 has a re cord of 55 vears of continuous m em bership in the O ld Fellow’s Gus W eiglet of The Dalle«; con tributed several sleight,-of-hand tricks to the evening program . A chicken dinner was enjoyed at the close of the meeting. Mr and Mrs W illard Rolfe and familv motored to Portland F ri day to visit her m other, Mrs Pat Kelly, returning home Sunday. Mrs Earl Olds entertained members of the bridge clubs at her home Thursday with a des s trt lunchebn followed by con tract at two tables. Winning scores were held by Mrs Dell Olds, Mrs A. F. Balzer and Mrs Jes^e Helyer. Mr and Mrs Tommie Jones of Madras arrived Friday to visit Jim Woods, who is very • ill. They* left .Monday for their home Mr and Mrs Paul Goddard, C. R Anderson and Sam Stark went to Arlinton Saturday night to attend -the state basketball j tournam ent t Mr and Mrs Tom Alley moved to their home in The Dalles Fri day, having purchased it some weeks ago. Bill Lutterell left Monday for his home in Pendleton after spending several days at the home of Mr and Mrs Ed Alley. Mr and Mrs Earl Olds and Barbara Alley and Donna Perry were in The Dalles Saturday* on business and to visit Mrs Fred Peters and inflant daughter at the hospital. . - *** Mr and Mrs Harry Stark and Carl Ziegler went to The Dalles Sunday to spend the day at the home of Mrs Stark s mother. Mr Crowley attended again Sat urday night. Episcopal ohurch services were held a t the Methodist church in Grass Valley Sunday by the Rev Mr and Mrs Seth Shearer and fam ily of P ortland w ere overnight guests at the hom e of Mr and Mrs Sim Duncan Thursday. The chairman, Mrs Berneice Morris opened the business meet ing. The club decided to try* sell ing some cards as a money rais ing project. Textile painting was lectured and demonstrated by Mrs Frank Smith and practiced by the mem bers. The typed year books were turned over to the chairman who will put covers on them. Mrs Walter Morris volunteered to be project leader with pressure cookery of freezing for the April meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs Curt Tom.
