PACK S SHERM AN COUNTY JOURNAL, MORO, OREGON Lou Peetz underwent another operation in a R utland hospital Wednesday for the removal of his other leg, which was taken off above the knee. Infection was found in his foot after an operation that took off his toe nails ) making the second oper ation necessary. He is reported to have gone through the opera tion well and be in good shape, everything considered. Mr. Peetz lost his first leg almost exactly a year ago from a similar cause. He is a former county commis sioner and road foreman and is FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 1948 known to nearly every person in the county. Mrs Mollie- McLachlan was given a surprise birthday party last Tuesday when a party of 16 friends, "mostly of the I^e gion auxiliary, oame in with birthday cake already baked to give her greetings of the day. Wes Fuller came up Monday to start work preparatory to going into the field as soon as it is dry enough. At the Odd-Fellow card party and pie feast Saturday night Marvin Howell walked away with the first prize for “500” and Ernest Houston took the low prize. For women Mrs John De- Moss had the high score and Mrs Art Barnum low. John DeMoss auctioned the pies successfully. Howard Schilling of Grass Val ley has been named deputy ass essor by Bill Todd and is learn ing the job in the office.
