Mothers Visited An informative bulletin ex plaining the operations of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs during its ten months of exis tence and citing the laws under which it fuctions was released this week by Director Hugh E. Sincfe then, re presentatives of Rosson’s depart ment have called upon the re port states, to encourage such appointments * in view of the Jieavy volume of service work presently needed in each county and the certainty of its continu ance during the coming years. It adds, however, that the de partment has “no authority, de sire or intention to participate in the selection of such officers,” who are “responsible only to the county.” The bulletin says further that while the department has lega] authority to act as attorney for veterans or their dependents, “it is not the policy of the de partment to solicit such power? The release concluded: “The state thus expresses Its interest in the welfare of the veteran through this department, commit ted to service* in his behalf. It is in no sense an attempt to dominate any phase of the work ■ip this field, but rather an office which should prove helpful to all agencies, organizations and individual veterans In the state.” Yet, your tuition up to $500 per ortB* nary school year paid for 4« months of college, business or trade school.
