At the station 8.26 inches of m oisture has been recorded in this crop y e a r and the avo/age or norm al crop y ear precipita tion for the first six m onths Is 7.77 Inches. F ebruary has an average pre cipitation of 1.26 b u t the F ebru ary ju st ended , brought bu t .67 inch. The biggest show er of the m onth was T uesday night when .25 fell. Other rains of the m onth were light affairs. Because of the lack of heavy frost during the w in ter there Isa feeling th at actual m oisture con ditions may be better than the fi gures of precipitation indicate. This week M errill Oveson, sta tion superintendent, took some soil sam ples of the ridge land farm ed by H arry Proudfoot and found an average of 14 percent m oisture from two samples, one taken on steep ground and anoth er on level land. The land is ir. stubble. ’ j Samples Taken These sam ples had 20 percent in the top foot, w hich dropped 8 o r less in th e fifth and sixth foot.
