The aged man v as following behind a truck and the truck man signaled him to pass, another truck coming run l ead on into his car wrecking It. He had a badly cut nose and face and broken ribs and collarbone and is in the mid-Columbia hospi tai. The report was he was n >t so well Tuesday and suffering ouite a bit from pain and shock. Mrs F L Cannell was sick in bed two days of last week but is up and around again at this writ ing. The Rebakah convention held Wed nrrday afternoon and evening, March 15th, was a decided success .vith the president of the Rebekah .Assembly, Mns Bertha McColl am of Portland and her warden. Mrs Gladys Curteman in attendance. About 60 delegates fhom Rebekan organizations at Kent, Grass Val ley. Moro and Wasco were pre sent at the afternoon and evening meeting. At 6:30 p m. a chicken dinner was served by the Christ ian church ladies to those pre sent and a fine program followed the dinner consisting of talks, lecitationa, and vocal solos. Roy Belshee was toesfkwaster. In the evening meeting a Marion Rebek ah (Wasco) candidate was initi ated by the Lupine Rebekah (Moro) officers and degree ¿taff, with hardly a mistake. A beauti ful performance that drew the commendation of tlhe President. After this the President gave a fine talk as did a number of mem bers and visitors. At the close Mf.rion and Lupine Rebekahs ser ved cake and coffee Mrs Lealie Blakeney underwent a major operation at The Dalles horpital Monday. Mr. Blakeney, Mrs O G Hilderbrand and Mrs Marie Cooper were with her. Harry Ridhelderfer went to Portland Wednesday on business. Mrs Ida Andrew? spent Satur day in The Dalles for dental worx. Mrs G A Sargent left Sunday on the bus for Corvallis to visit • her daughter and family, Rev and Mrs Chas. Neville and baby.
