The evening started with a pro- en-am which included the following numbers: several numbers by the Grass Valley school band; a one act comedy by members of the legion and auxiliary; a tap dance by Eileen Lemley and Phylhs Oestreich; a reading by Rita von Borstel and several numbers by the Kent school band, followed by when everyone enjoyed thir luc for a time. Mrs. Wren Hogue won the turkey, Amandus von Borstel won the bedspread and a cooking pot- and Bill Beuther won a cook ing’ pot. Over $200 was made, some of which will be spent for Defense Bonds. Rita and George von Borstel re turned to The Dalles after spenn- ing the week end visiting their p arent, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Von iC ■V. Borstel. Bud Williams of The Dalles came up Sunday to visit his brother-in law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Law rence Denis, v Mrs. I. D. Pike, Mrs. Elna Raw- leigh and Ross Fields were shop pers in The Dalles Saturday. Miss Margaret Trabue spent the week end visiting her parents in The Dalles. T. M.'Rolfe and son, Willard, left Monday for Sacramento, Cal ifornia on business. Glen Karnes and sons left Sat urday for Colorado Springs, to vis- is Mrs. Karnes parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Parker, a few day en route to Hoxie, Kansas where they will visit his parents. They plan on returning the first of the year. He will bring Lynn Naylor’s fur niture, who lives in The Dalles. The Christmas program given by the grade school nupils will be held at the Civic auditorium Tues day, December 23. Santa Claus will be thede to give all the chil dren present candy and nuts. The Ladies Social Service club met at the home of Mrs. Glen Karnes Thursday aftemion. A Christinas program and an ex change of gifts were enjoyed by all present Refreshments were served to about 19 members and guests. Saturday, December 20 the Grass, Valley Zebras will play the Wasco ToWnies on the local floor. Mr. and Mrs. E. M.
