Cool w eather and plentiful rain s have delayed th e event to some e x te n t and m ade the resu lt som ething to be antici pated w ith pleasure. We usually im patient over the a rriv a l of a com ing event we expect to erjo y , A few combines have started and, except fo r the w inter barley crop, th e re su lts indicate th a t yields will be a s h ig h as the farm ers th o u g h t th ey would be on av erag e land. On poor land the yields bid fa ir to be h ig h er than anyone expected. All of us, fa rm er o r m erchant, are anxious to know w hat this crop will make. The conditions under which this crop was grow n were fav orable as an y we a re like ly to experience in a generation. Our lim itin g fa c to r is usually m oisture and th is year th e re was enough. N itra te s m ay lim it us in case of enough m oisture but we cannot tell about th a t very o ften. The w eather h a s been al- •;tMt perfect.
