FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1*41 Moro Town Team Wins Exciting Basketball Game The town teams of Moro and Wasco played a-close and exciting game on the Moro floor Monday night. Moro lacking one player, Paulen Kaseherg of Wasco played with them, leaving no substitutes for either side. The score at the end of the game was 33 all, at the end of the first overtime 35 all, and at the second overtime call Dean- Pinkerton tossed in a basket making the score 37 to 35 for Moro. J. W. Judy of the Commerce Mortgage’ Company of Walla Walla, was in the county Monday and Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eakin en tertained friends at an aluminum dinner Wednesday evening. Mrs. R. W. Pinkerton is quite ill at her home near \shere. Her daughters, Mrs. Wilma iPoole of Salem and Mrs. Margaret Eoff of Yakima, are here to help care for their mother. Tom Douma made a trip to Port land with a load of hogs Wednes day. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marvin were in Moro from Friday until Monday from their Hermiston home. Mr. Marvin was working with Mr. Belanger in work pertain ing to the S.C.S. program while here. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin took little I^avelle Schilling home with them for a visit. Mrs. Collis Moore and son, David ana Mrs. Giles French and daugh ter, Patricia returned Sunday from a trip to Salem and the coast. They were accompanied by Mrs. Van Gilder, who visited relatives in Albany and McMinnville. Mrs. E. H. Moore and Tom Stephens made the trip down as far as Port land. Serai Searcy, in company with his daughter, Audrey and Mrs Ross Ornduff, drove to Portland last Friday on business. Myles Martin of Morrow coun ty. father of Orlo Martin, was here the first of the week attend ing to business. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ornduff vis ited over the week end in The Dalles with Mrs. Oriduff’s daugh ter. Mrs. Paul Cypher«. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Schade witz attended the funeral of Hal Holmes held in The Dalles Tues day afternoon. Mrs. Alex McLeod visited over the week end with her daughter. Mis. Randall Martin and family at returned Monday from a several day» trip in the vicinity o f Pioche, Nevada looking oyer the magnesia mines near there. They visited with Gene Locket and Lloyd J e n son who are located near there to work put assessments on prev ious mine claims of Mr. Locket. •Mrs. Wily Knighten and Mrs. Harry Pinkerton, accompanied by three girl scouts,. Ana jean Knigh ten, Gloria Douma and Janet Schadewitz, attended the Wash ington birthday program at Kent Friday afternoon. The girl scouts piesented the colors at the pro gram. Bud Amidon made a trip to Goldendale, Washington Friday, with a load of farm equipment for the ranch he rented there recently. J. J. Martin of Moscow, Idaho visited here this- week with rela tive*. He is a ‘-brother of W. J. Martin and an uncle of Mrs. A. S. Johnson. Skating every Tuesday and Fri day nights, with the exception of Friday the 28th. M. M. Oveson left Tuesday in company with H. D. Proudfoot of Wasco, Chairman of the legisla tive committee of the Eastern Oregon Wheat League, for Cor vallis and Salem, respectively. Helen Sayrs, business manager for the play “The Yellow Shadow” to be given this Friday, Feb. 28, reports all reserved seats sold, but plenty of excellent general admis sion seats for sale. A tea will be given by a group of ladies in honor of Mrs. Martha Cope, who is leaving us soon to make her home in Texas, Thurs day, March 6th, from 2:30 to 4:30, at the home of Mrs. Charles Bel- shee. The community is invited to call during the afternoon. A tea will be given by a group of ladies Thursday, March 6th, from 2:30 to 4:30, in honor of Mrs. Martha Cope, who is leaving us soon to make her home in Texas. Conlee re turned home from Portland Fri day evening. Mr. Conlee is re covering as well as can be expect ed from his recent auto accident. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reid of Port land spent the week end with Mrs Reid’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Conlee. Mrs. L. R. Conlee and Mrs. Eugene Amidon entertained the Past Matrons at the Conlee home Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Tom Fraser won the bridge prize and Mrs. Walt Ruggles the door prize. Mr. Farrington of the Pacific Telephone company, and W. Jacksor. of The Dalles were busi ness visitors in Moro Tuesday. A1 Sweigle is now at Rufus 'tuild’ng a new home for L. E. Langford. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. PAwell and daughter, Mrs. Velma McKean, ¿rove to Portland last Thursday and returned Friday. Marion McKee went to The Ltalies Wednesday evening to re turr.
