Miss Liesz giving a reception Sunday night a fte r the baccalaureate at the church basement in honor of Miss B arbara Leisz, who has taught four years in the high school and is leaving to continue her education at Stanford. Everyone is invited to come and bid Miss Leisz a for mal goodbye. Refreshments will be served. At the home of Rev. and Mrs. Henry G. Hanson a birthday party in honor of Mi's. LeeRoy Hanson was held on Friday evening, M^y third. The guests of the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Lamer Sayrs rnd Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Coelsch besides Mr. and Mrs. LeeRoy Han son. Following the dinner the evening was spent in social inter The music pupils of Miss Vivian Trounce will be heard in recital Friday evening at 7:30, May 24th at the Community church. The old telephone office is being remodeled and made ready for the Pacific Power & Light Co. staff to move into it by the first of June. A new floor covering and ; new paint are part of the job. V. April traffic fatalities in the city of Portland shdwed an increase of 2'K) percent over the toll for the corresponding month a year ago, figures compiled by the secretary of state disclosed today. There were six persons killed in the city this April compared to two for the same month last year. F atalities in the state outside of Poitland totaled 15 this April, the same as for April of 1939.
