The travel ers planned to be in Spokane, Sun day. Mrs. Erickson and Miss Erickson are mother and sifter of Mrs. L. H. Mitchelmore. Mrs. Barton is an aunt. Claence Morrison and daugh ter, Helen and Leona McLeod returned Sunday from their trip to California. Bill Aldrich, who has been tak ing care of the race stock at the fair grounds, broke his arm this we?k while riding a colt and. will be laid up for several weeks. L. A. Martin jr., and Mrs. Clarence Morrison were hostesses Wednesday for a shower in honor of newly married Mrs. Randall Martin, nee Marie McLeod. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Poiev ol Ashland were Moro visitors Wed nesday afternoon. During their brief stay here they called upon Rev. and Mrs. L. H. Mitchelmore, and Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Poley. The two men are cousins. Ernest and Andy Patjens of Shaniko and Donald von Borstel of Kent returned Tuesday from an eight day tour of eastern O’e- gon and Washington where they looked over the fine Hereford and Shorthorn herds of the two states Mr. and Mrs. Jack Matteson are here from Oakland, California to spend a few weeks with Mrs. Matteson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Foss. Collis Moore and wife made a trip to Portlarjd over the past week end. Mrs. Walter May went to Port land Saturday evening to see Walter who is recuperating at the home of a sister there. A charivari was held Wednes day night in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Woods and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Henderson, recently married young people of the city. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Wait, the agate man from Newport, and their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Feeber ¿and family, were here last .. w,eek to visit with 'Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Barzee. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. McLeod returned this week from Califor nia where they had been on a vacation for the past two weeks. Mrs. Darwin Van Gilder was in Portland to see her husband over the week end and was dis appointed in being unable to bring him home for another two weeks, although he is improving. Members of the Presbyterian Christian Endeavor society and high school department held a combined tennis tournament and Bible study at the -church. Wed nesday night. A number of the young' people tried their hand at the tennis game for the first time while others had played before.
