Roy Powell, to Lyle Woods, son of Mrs. Hazel Woods was an event of Saturday night. The country home of the bride’s parents was the scene of the wedding. At eight o’clock the bride clad in a dusty Rose chiffon gown and carrying a , bouquet of white gar* denias and lilies of the valley and accompanied by her sifter Jean as bridesmaid was met by the g.oom who was attended by his hrother Ethan as best man and in front of a party of sixty guest | heard the weddinh service read by Rev. L. H. Mitchelmore, of the Moro Community church. Mrs. Ina Kunsman of Arlington, an aunt of the bride, sang at the ceremony. A reception at which Mrs. Anna Moore and Mrs. Glen Glass served following the wedding and the young couple left for Portland and the coast for a brief honeymoon. Both of the contracting parties are graduates of Moro High school and have been residents here for many years as have their families. Upon their return they will oc cupy apartments in the hotel. Milo Elliott and family came up from Sheridan Sunday, to attend the Thompson Round-Up, staying overnight with his sister, Mrs. Chas. Adlard. C. A. Collier is here to work in the pharmacy during the absence of Marion McKee, who left Satur day morning for Southern Oregon. Mrs. Elizabeth Schaeffer return ed Tuesday from Portland where she had been to visit the Rose show. Mrs. Darwin Van Gilder is help ing in the clerk’s office during the absence of Mrs. Lyle Woods. J. B. Adams was in Portland from Sunday until Tuesday morn ing. H. M. Champneys left this week for a vacation away from his dut ies as bank liquidator at Moro and Wasco. Mrs. Darwin Van Gilder was in Salem last week end to attend the graduating exercises of Willamette university. Mr. and Mrs. Randall Martin returned here Wednesday after a b: ief wedding trip. , Mis. Ted Applegate was here Wednesday with bonds to obtain the release of her husband who is held in the county jail for re-trial in Septemebr on a charge of lar ceny. Bonds were not in complete form and delay of a few days pre vented her from returning. The county agent has been in Corvallis this week helping the 4-H club children from this county. • Miss Marjorie Bye.s, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Byers, grad uated from Pacific University this year receiving the only degree given as a bachelor of music. She remained in Portland where she will appear over KGW. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Conlee left Wednesday for a trip to Portland. Gordon Fraser left Wednesday for Fort Lewis to spend a month as officer in the training camp. F. O. Vincent, Portland insur ance man, was here on business Wednesday. ♦' Gene Coy and his band of black dance players will be seen and heard at the Grass Valley pavilion Saturday night. They appeared at Moro last Friday and played for a large crowd. ""Logan Gentry this week resign ed his place as caretaker at the fair grounds and sold his milch cows. It is understood that Dick Morgan will be put in charge of the fair grounds in the place of Mr. Gentry. The house occupied by Vernon Miller is in process of being en larged and rebuilt this summer. Rain began falling over Sher man county Thursday morning to bring hope to farmers who hoped that it would continue. It was re ported that in the south end of the county a larger fall was ex perienced but this has not been substantiated. Rainfall , to date has not been enough to be of material aid to the spring grain around Moro and while it is not suffering greatly so far is not ex pected to make a high yield with out moisture.
