The entertaining side led by Mrs. Langford entertained the winners whose leader was Mrs. Clark, at the Langford home. The first competitive basketball gam es of th$ season played by Rufus at Grass Valley last Friday were not only inspiring at their conclusion for the Rufus teams but the results were rather unexpected by both sides. The boys game, in narticular, was expected to be com paratively close, which it was, as the Rufus team was led by a single point 'at some time during the game although the final score showed a total of 23 to Grass Val ley*3 18 points. The game /“between the Grass Valley girls and the Rufus baske- teers could not cf m p ate w ith the other games as i t a p p a re n tly was a decisive victory for Rufus 31 to 5. Last Friday was, indeed, a day dedicated to sport. The grade youngsters met worthy rivals from Wasco in a basketball r?tne in the afternoon. After a hard gought conflict—it surely wasn’t a siham, the grade ball tossers boasted narrow, hard won victory of 14 to 13. The owners of Fleck Orchards Ground have just completed are now painting three new camp cabins constructed to accom modate anticipated to u ris t trade next summer and perhaps forth coming summers in the future. Future social activities include various Christmas parties and programs of which visable prepar ations are evident. The Rufus school presents ‘‘The Return of the Magi” under the direction of Miss Ashbaugh Miss Murdock, and Mr. McKenzie, Wednesday ^-December 23, at eight o’clock.
