A double boiler being used to cook the filling, ex ploded as she was stirring the mix ture and 'Mrs. Miller’s face ano arms were badly burned by the steam. /A ladies’ shoe was brought in to this office early this week. It was found on the highway below Wasco and is rather a stylish look ing shoe, not too large. Guests of Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Poley last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Davies of The Dalles and Miss Phyllis Rinehart of Grass Valley. *Mrs. Claud Thompson left the hospital Monday after her recent operation and went to visit a brother for a few days before re turning home. Mrs. T. B. Searcy left'for Cor vallis Saturday after Kp^nding a large part of the winter here with various members of her family. , The ywell on the Pinkerton place is temporarily out of com- misafon, since some of the pipes fell when it was being repaired. A fishing job is under way under the direction of George Witter, well expert of Kent. Miss Gayle Amidon is able to be out and is working at the county school superintendent’s office for a few days. Bart Burrel and Elwood Mc Pherson are ready again to^itart plowing. The recent freeze’ up stopped them earlier in the year. •The Womans Missionary Society will meet Wednesday at 2 p. m. March Uth at the home of Mrs. J. F. Foss. As this is the last meet ing of the year, a full attendance is desired. Mrs. R. J. Ginn and Miss Mil dren Ginn left Tuesday for The Dalles where they attended a meet ing of the Full Gospel church. Miss Mabel Elsie Byers, daugh ter of R. C. Byers ot Moro, and Lewis Carl McKee, of Moro, were married at Yuma, Arizona early last week. They spent a few days in southern California, and are now in Portland on their way home. They expect to arrive Sat urday and will take up their res idence on the farm southeast of town. Homer Belshee was taken to the hospital Thursday morning with what was diagnosed as pneumonia by Dr. Poley. Bom:.
