THE SHERMAN COUNTY JOURNAL, Wasco A large number of friends of the Siscel family attended the funeral services of Grandpa Siscel Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Margaret Tuel and Harland Johnson sang accompanied by Mrs. J. T- Johnson Miss Retha McDonald spent the week end in Portland. Mrs. John Royce shopped in The Dsn''a Thursday Evelyn Olson was an over night guest of Dana Jean McMillan Wed nesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sargent trans acted business in The Dalles Tuesday. The Tuesday Study club met at the home of Mrs. Rebecca Coryell this week. Sixteen members answered roll call- A very interesting paper on the National Parks and Crater Lake was given by Mrs- Jennie Porter. Guests for the afternoon were Mrs. Jessie Amos, Mrs. George Lamborr and Mrs. Bert Watkins. The hostess sewed dainty refreshments. Mrs- Everett Watkins entertained a number of guests at bridge Tuesda' - afternoon. Six tables played and high scores made by Mrs. Proudfoot and Burres and consolation by Mrs. Hildred Zell. Miss Retha McDonald was an over night visitor at the Bank Hotel in The Dalles Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sargent and daughter and Miss Vivian Trounce returned from Portland- Tuesday night- While in-the city they attended P9uierew8ki concert. “V Mrs. Roy Atwood also attended the concert Monday night. Mrs. Audrey Eaton entertained 5 tables of bridge at the home of, Mrs. Marion McKee at Moro Saturday af ternoon. High score was made by Mrs Louis Walsh and 2nd by Mrs- Stephens- " Mr. and Mrs. Marshall and family . and Mrs. Dunlap of Portland were ■ week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McKee. Mrs. Florence Turner of Portland attended the Siscel funeral in Wasco Thursday- The following boys attended the Roy Seout 'Court of Honor at Moro 'stat Friday evening: Leon Smith, Arthur Van Gilder, Kenneth Wilde. Leonard Fields, James Manning. Mr. and Mrs. R O. Scott and Mr. Hawk also attended from here. Mrs- Fldyd Ford and aon Donald home of Mr. and Mrs. Tate. Mrs. Mary Barbara and son Leland, of Portland, are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tate for ^few days* 3. P. Yatas accompanied by Giles French made a trip to the John Day valley last Thursday tn the interest of Mr. Yates' candidacy for the state senatorship. Mrs- Andy Shearer went to Port land Sunday for medical attention. \ Mr. and Mrs. Sid Johnson of The Dalles were visitors in Wasco Mon- Girla Cooking Club Entertain Mother* The members of the Moro Cooking club entertained their mothers Sat urday afternoon,, April 23rd, at a tea given at ths home of Mrs. *D. E. Stephens. The program was opened by all singing “Oregon, My Oregon.” Mrs. Helen Sayrs favored us with very humorous and interesting talk an her first attempts at cooking Mrs. Nina Pinkerton also told us of summer school and state fair and the advantege of going there. Piano solo "Just Bunch Dasies* played by Betty Jeanne Vin- Solo ‘‘Sleepy Time Express” Sung <y Mary Lou Sayrs- Poem ”An Oregon Sun Knows Vhere to Set” by Reaths Sayrs. Duet “Mammy’s Lullaby” sung by Dorothy Fraser and Mary Pinkerton. Club girls sang “4-H Clover ” Piano solo “Sparklets” played by Flora Williams. ' Solo "Where the. Blue Night” sung by Marjorie Byers. Club sang “Achievement Song” which concluded the program. The mothers were served by the girls a light lunch of mint jello salad, brownies* sandwiches and punch pr coffee. He not only did the pitching but a quarter of the field ing as the Wasco hitters popped the ball out to him for easy eats.
