Ginn Coleman Co. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Flatt died last Wednes day night at the family home here. He was a week old. A. H. Barnum and Lester Bar num drove to Terrebonne last Sunday to see the Stanley Lake family who live near that place. The Evangelist who has been preaching at the Full Gospel chur ch, Miss Louise Hodge and her brother left on Wednesday for Redmond. Clarence Whealdon, a brotner of Mrs. W. C. Bryant, was here the first of the week from Port land. The Bryant family return ed with him Tuesday after the funeral. Mrs. Chitwood, mother of Mrs. Joe Truitt, was returned from The Dalles hospital last Sunday. Mrs. H. F. Chitwood, her dau- ghter in law of Madras, is here assisting in her care. C. E. Johnson and wife were here Tuesday afternoon to at tend the funeral of W. C. Bry ant. Mrs. Tom Hulery, of Eu gene and Mrs. A. Clark of Hood River accompanied them. Mr. Mills was for merly the Methodist Minister here. M. H. Overson returned Tues day from Pendleton and reports that there may be some frost damage to wheat on the station in Umatilla county as the temp erature dropped to 21 degrees there last week. A. M. Wright received a visit from hia two sisters last week end when Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Leach of Albany, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Fraser of Yakima, wefe at the Wright home. They left Sunday. The members of the golf club spent the early hours of Wednes day morning placing a woven wire fence along the east side of the fairgrounds in order to hold sheep on the golf course and make it possible to find lost balls. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Thompson and two sons were here from Beaverton visiting Mr. Thomp son’s parents. Mr. and Mrs C. J. Thompson, this week. They assist in the publication of the Beaverton Review at that city. Rev. Henry G. Hansen, of In dependence, drove up Tuesday to preach the funeral sermon of Mr. Bryant. Mrs. N. P. Han sen of Portland came with him and Gwendolyn Foss accompan ied them on the return trip on her way to Eugene. The Oregon Tuberculosis Asso. are sponsoring an‘essay contest in the state and school children are competing for the prizes of fered. The essays must be writ ten on some subject relating to tuberculosis control among young people. W. F. Jackson and wife re turned from Long Beach, Calif ornia last Friday afternoon after a few months spent along the sunkissed beaches of our neigh boring state. Bill looks hale and hearty for a man who spent the winter in the enervating south. Rev. M G. Tennyson, rector of the Episcopal Church at La Grande, and Mrs. Tennyson drove through Moro last Satur day on their way to Bend, stop ping to call on Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Miller. Mrs Tennyson and Mrs Miller are old time friends, and Rev. Tennyson and Mrs. Miller served on the same fleet on a trip to South America. The Rector is a nephew of Lord Ten nyson, the poet. Methodist Church Notes (Grass Valley) Church school every Sunday at 10 Preaching Sunday morning, May 3d, at 11 The Ladies Aid society meets April 30, at 2 p m.( Our church school was just wonderful last Sunday morning. The interest was splendid. Sev eral new pupils^ were present, and everyone had a happy time. The Young People’s class reached the Sea of Galilee but were un able to start home because some were absent. This ship will pot be able to start on the return trip until all of the class are present. If the other classes are workers, this delay may give one of them theprize. The Primary class had the Banner for attend ance last Sunday. Billie Todd and Robert Eaton repeated all the names of the books of the New Testament. LaVonne Al sup did nicely but was not able to give all of the books. We hope that every one will learn the books this week. There is a fine surprise in store for the school next Sunday morning. You can’t afford to miss next Sunday. The church with a cordial wel come.
