2A • May 18, 2018 | Cannon Beach Gazette | cannonbeachgazette.com CANNON BEACH POLICE LOG April 21 10:35 a.m. Beach, Silver Point: Police and the Cannon Beach Fire Depart- ment assist a woman knocked over by her own dog. 4:17 p.m., Beach: Found keys are turned into the police. 8:15 p.m., 2800 block Pacific: A heavily intoxicated man causing a disturbance outside a hotel is warned of disorderly conduct. 10:56 p.m., Tolovana and the Beach: Spotted Chinese floating lanterns are seen in the sky. Offi- cer attempt to locate the person or persons who set them off but are unable to do so. 11:54 p.m., 100 block W. Madison: Caller reports people camping or preparing to camp overnight on the beach. Officers contacting subjects are told subjects are photographing the Milky Way. April 22 8:27 a.m., Highway 101 and Milepost 30: A person spotted sleeping in a sleeping bag along the side of the highway is neither hurt nor wanting assistance. 4:21 p.m., Haystack Lane: Lost keys was reunited with their owner. 5:02 p.m., 800 block Ecola Park Road: A burglary was reported. Officers checking the residence area found multiple places where the burglar attempted to break in, as well as an unlocked sliding door which seemed the likely place of entry. There were signs someone had been in the house but nothing obvious was missing. 8:13 p.m., 3400 block S. Hemlock: A person said his room had been unlawfully entered. A spare room key may or may not have gone missing. April 23 1:03 a.m., 100 block E. Madison: Caller reports a suspicious person; police say it is a person wearing a breathing mask. slumped over his steering wheel. The vehicle was gone prior to po- lice arrival. April 24 7:39 a.m., 100 block E. Madison: A person called police to say they found tacks on their front doorstep. They believe this is related to a prior report. Additional patrols are requested. 10 a.m., 1100 block Spruce Court: A watch is reported stolen. 12:39 a.m., Ecola State Park: A wallet is reported lost. 4:32 p.m., Haystack Parking: A dog locked in a car on a 68-degree day is reported in distress. Police arrive as the family was coming back from the beach. They said would be leaving the area shortly. 10:33 p.m., 1000 block S. Columbia, Seaside: Cannon Beach police assist with two women fighting. Seaside police were assisted on scene, at the hospital, and the Seaside police department. Cannon Beach police re- turned a few hours later to the Seaside police headquarters to assist with a report of one of the women attempt- ing to strangle herself with clothing. April 25 11:17 p.m., Highway 101 and Junc- tion 26: CB police assist Seaside police with a report of a driver who ran a stop sign and then ignored a police command to stop their vehicle. The subject was stopped at the junction. April 26 10:14 a.m., 3700 block S. Hemlock: A dogfight between a pit bull and a pug that occurred on April 23red was resolved amicably. Neither dog was injured and the pit bull will be staying home in Portland when its owners come to use their condo in Cannon Beach. April 28 8:39 a.m., 3400 block S. Hemlock: Police respond to a complaint about telephone harassment. Options are given. 3:28 p.m., 100 block N. Larch: A non- violent, verbal only argument ensued between a couple. The woman said she was returning to Portland. Po- lice gave her a courtesy ride to the bus stop. 9:21 p.m., Ecola State Park: A hik- er who refused medical help after sustaining an injury is assisted to their vehicle. 5:39 p.m., Highway 101 and Sun- set: Police respond for a request of a welfare check on a man reported 8:06 a.m., 300 block Elk Creek: Police respond to a domestic assault in the fourth degree. An arrested subject is April 30 transported to the Clatsop County jail. May 1 10:36 p.m., 2800 block S. Pacific: Po- lice respond to a report of a scream- ing child. A check was conducted and the child was fine. May 2 12:18 a.m., Tolovana Wayside: Subjects are warned of overnight camping. A minor with them is also in possession. They are told they can stay where they are for the night. 6:08 p.m. 100 block E. Gower: Chil- dren turn in two empty marijuana containers to police, found on the sidewalk as litter. May 4 11 a.m., 100 block N. Hemlock: Verti- cal pennants set outside businesses for the Plein Air Festival are discussed with the police as there is a prohibi- tion against such pennants. The per- son in charge of the festival said the pennants would come down when she has a crew available to help her. 5:52 p.m., Beach and Les Shirley: A car key found on beach that opened a vehicle remotely were turned in to police who shortly after united them with their owner.
