Portland mystery writer Warren Easley, author of the Cal Claxton Mysteries: “Matters of Doubt,” “Dead Float” and “Never Look Down,” will be the April 8 speaker. The series concludes May 13 with Mindy Hardwick, author of “Sweetheart Wedding.” Though Hardwick mainly focuses on teen and tween books, she also writes sweet contemporary romance books; she facilitates po- etry workshops for teens at the Denny Youth Juvenile Justice Center and is the co-author of four anthologies of their writing. Stowell comes to Cannon Beach The Cannon Beach History Center and Museum presents jazz guitarist John Stowell on Jan. 20. Stowell was the fi rst American jazz performer to appear in Russia after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Stowell teaches internationally. He has been an artist-in-resi- dence at schools in Germa- ny, Indonesia, Argentina, the United States and Canada. Since 1995, Stowell has been a contributing columnist for a number of magazines, includ- ing Down Beat, Guitar Player, Canadian Musician, Sound- check and Guitar Club.
