Introduction to Cheese and Cheese Making Workshop,” a one-day event, will be held at the Cannon Beach Chamber Community Hall on Wednes- day, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop includes a cheese tasting of the seven major cheese families and a hands-on session where participants work in pairs to convert milk to cheese. Other sessions focus on the history and categorization of cheese and learning about the key steps of the cheese making process. The class is offered and taught by Marc Bates, a.k.a “Cheeseguy of the North Coast.” He has 49 years’ ex- perience in the industry. Contact cheeseguy@char- ter.net for more information. Legion craft bazaar and bake sale The Cannon Beach Amer- ican Legion Auxiliary will hold its annual craft bazaar and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 30. This event is the Auxiliary’s big- gest fundraiser for veterans in Oregon’s four VA hospitals. The fair will feature craft vendors both inside and out- side the Legion hall in mid- town. Inside vendors will have varied crafts plus a huge bake sale. Last year’s bake sale — which highlight- ed pies, pies and more pies; cookies; breads and bars — raised more than $1,000 for the hospital fund. A ring of craft vendor tents with a va- riety of handcrafted products will circle the Legion building as a convenience for shoppers to stroll and shop. Crafts include jewelry, birdhouses, elaborate wooden toys, fused glass, quilted prod- ucts, Chinese bonsai, hats and purses, cookbooks for men, shell wreaths and much more. Tickets for Coastal Harvest of Giving Tickets are on sale for Clat- sop Community Action’s sev- enth-annual fundraiser, Coast- al Harvest of Giving, which takes place Nov. 18 in Cannon Beach. The event helps fund the nonproit’s Regional Food Bank, a central clearinghouse for food donations on the North Coast. The 170 tickets for the event are irst-come, irst- served and $150 per person, two-thirds of the price tax-de- ductible. They are available until Nov. 11.
