After investigation, Fredrick Sterling Ey, 63, from Portland, was arrested for DUII with a BAC of 0.33 percent and reckless driving. June 17 1 p.m., 1235 S. Hemlock: A dog bite occurred in front of the Cannon Beach Hardware Store. The dog was on a leash. Current vaccination reports were obtained. An animal bite report was sent to the county. Fireworks are prohibit- ed on the Cannon Beach ocean shore at all times, allowing for a quieter, pet-friendly holiday that also prevents marine life and shore birds from being harmed. After fi re- work displays were banned on July 4 years ago, some locals remember fi re dancers being a part of festivities. This Fourth of July weekend has activities for both lo- cals and visitors alike. June 20 8:10 p.m. Elk Creek Road/RV Park: John Jay Kelley, 41, from Eugene, was arrested for DUII and reckless driving. A blood draw occurred. 10:05 p.m., Rippet Road/Highway 101, 10:05 p.m.: Assisted Oregon State Police with K9 sniff . After an alert by K9 Gunner, and fur- ther investigation, 2.4 ounces of methamphetamine, along with a baggie of Oxycodone, was located and seized from the vehicle. June 22 3:40 p.m. Highway 101/Warren Way: Levi Craig Hutchings, 35, from Monmouth, was arrested and cit- ed for DUII, hit-and-run property, and reckless driving. Hutchings was also cited for use of a mobile communication device and breath test refusal. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw. June 18 12:39 a.m. Highway 101/North Peterson Point, driving suspend- ed/revoked: Ezequiel Flores, 20, Spot the puffi ns The Friends of Haystack Rock organizes a puffi n watch with help from the Haystack Rock Awareness program. During normal scheduled Haystack Rock Awareness Proj- ect shifts, the public can take a closer look at puffi ns nesting on Haystack Rock using scopes and binoculars that are provided. Scopes and binoculars will be set up Saturday, July 2, from 6 to 9 a.m.; Sunday, July 3, from 6 to 10 a.m., and Mon- day, July 4, from 6 to 11 a.m. Friends of Haystack Rock members and staff will be available to answer questions.
