The hikers had became disoriented and trapped by the incoming tide. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicop- ter crew rescued them at DP DERXW PLOHV south of Hug Point. It is unknown why the hikers became disoriented, but “we believe that they just lost their way,” Klingen- berg added. “We get a lot of these (incidents),” Clatsop Coun- ty Sheriff Tom Bergin said.
