Artists creating work throughout the town, on the beach and nearby. From 5 to 7 p.m. gallery receptions for featured artists will be held. DragonFire’s reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at 10 a.m., the group show opens at the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce. Participating artists from the Cannon Beach Gallery Group will be fea- tured. Look for work created during the Fes- tival to be on display. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., artists continue to create work throughout town, on the beach and nearby. From 5 to 7 p.m. Plein Air & Pinot Artists’ reception and awards will be presented at the Chamber of Commerce. Music, wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be featured.Kimber- li Moore from the Southwest Art Magazine will announce festival awards. Each winner will receive free advertising in Southwest Art Magazine, providing widespread national ex- posure. Winners of the Award of Excellence will also receive a hand blown glass sculpture created by Cannon Beach artist Jim Kingwell IURP,FH¿UH*ODVVZRUNV$ZDUGVDUHGLYLGHG into two categories: “En Plein Air” and “& More,” representing the diverse nature of the “Plein Air & More Festival.” A special People’s Choice Award will be awarded at the end of the group show on Sun- day and will receive a blown glass sculpture by Jim Kingwell. Other highlights include: • Award of Excellence for “En Plein Air” work done onsite during the weekend and for overall body of work. • Honorary Award of Excellence for a VSHFL¿F³(Q3OHLQ$LU´SDLQWLQJ • Award of Excellence for “& More” (not painting) category. • Honorary Award of Excellence for a VSHFL¿F³0RUH´DUWZRUN • Honorary Excellence for best repre- sentation of Cannon Beach in the “& More category • People’s Choice Award, awarded by popular vote taken at the Chamber of Com- merce during the group show. This will be awarded on Sunday when the show con- cludes, Sunday, June 28, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Artists continue to work around town, and group show continues at Cannon Beach Chamber. Also at 11 a.m., DragonFire Gal- lery will present “Dualing Easles” with fea- tured plein air participants Michael Orwick and Anton Pavlenko. This popular event started at last year’s festival. Orwick and Pavlenko will each start a canvas and switch to working on each oth- er’s paintings several times. The event is a wonderful lesson in art, technique, collabora- tion and friendship. A light brunch reception will be served during the event and will also feature live music from local favorite Bucky Pottschmidt. Plein Air schedule of events Artists will be actively creating Friday, June 26, Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28 with their work showcased at gallery receptions on Friday evening. They will also participate in a group show at the Cannon Beach Chamber Building, which opens on Friday morning, with new work added as it is completed. A reception with light hors d’oeuvres and music will also take place at the Chamber on Satur- day evening. The events are free and will take place rain or shine. Maps detailing the location of each artist will be available at all Cannon Beach Gallery Group locations and the Cham- ber of Commerce. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions of the artists while they work.
