THE OFFICIAL PAPER FOR GIL LIAM COUNTY That the new council started in at their first meeting to make good the statements in regard to putting the city of Condon on a sound financial basis and thus lowering the taxes of the proper ty holders will be quite evident to all who may read the report of their meeting as given on the first page of this issue. Their ' earnest endeavor to get the af fairs of the city in a business like condition is shown by tne fact that another meeting is call ed for next Monday night and this haste will meet with approv al from the taxpayers who elect ed these men for the purpose of handling city affairs. The re remark that the new city coun cil intends to do something is a gain called forth by the unusual sight of four of the councilmen jta a body inspecting some of the streets of the city, presumably with a view to bettering their condition. ; The citizens of the city should do all in their power to assist the council in the good work. The fact that the Railroad Co. has sent 175 pounds of Milo seed to the local agent for distribu tion among the farmers of this community should be appreciated and taken advantage of by every farmer who has a few acres to devote to the raising of this val uable crop. The Department of Agriculture has tested this crop and knows what it is and this is the chance for the farmer to get for nothing ten pounds of seed that will with a little care, add many dollars to his yearly income. The farmer of this vi cinity, in fact everyone, is be coming wise to the fact, as all- ready stated by the Globe many times during the past few years, that wheat alone will not do ann many are taking up different lin es of diversified farming. The remainder will have to follow suit and this Milo seed offer is a good chance to get into the band wagon.
