Armstrong, who has been at St. Vincents Hospital in Port land for the last month, passed away last Sunday. He had been afflicted for some time witn cancer of the stomach and went there with the hope of obtaining relief but from the first there was no hopes for recovery. He was sixty-eight years of age. De ceased was the first sculpter to reside in this st-ta and quite a number of his models are still in existence. Wm. Holmes of Ferry Canyon was trading in Condon Tuesday. Wm. says the prospects for a crop in his country are the best ever. Attorney Jay Bowerman was in Fossil Sunday attending to legal business. The janitor of the Court House has been busy for the past week getting the lawn in shape. That part which was sown two years ago is in a flourishing condition and the trees are also doing well. The remainder of the yard was sown this spring and when this gets under way Condon can boast of having as nice a court yard as any in this section of the state. Gwendolen items The pupils of the school held a basket picnic on Palm Sunday at the Keeney place on Hay Creek. Glenn Keeney delivered a short address to those present, tel inirthem why the day was called Palm Sunday. Marvin Keeney came up from Rock Creek the latter part of last week to spend a few days with his parents. Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Hart man were Condon visitors last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hartman and family, accompanied by Miss Verna Lamb, spent Easter Sun day with Mr. Hartman's parents near Condon. M. J. Lynch was here the first of the week from Portland. A. W. Witchey is doing a thri ving business. The farmers are all busy put tingin springcrops and prospects were never better. Mrs. Kenneth Welshons came up from Clem Wednesday.
