0. Engberg, the boss plasterer
on the new Academy bunding,
returned to Portland this morn
ing. He paid this oflice a visit
yesterday to subscribe for the
Globe in order to keep up with
the news of Gilliam county and
of the city in which he worked.
He completed the big job of
plastering the academy yester
day afternoon and all the men
left this morninar. The con
tractors were very fortunate in
securing Messrs. Engberg &
Oberg to do the contract of
plastering as the work they have
done is of the best quality and
shows much skill in that line of
work. Both of these gentlemen
are good fellows and made many
friends while in this city.

Council Votes Ten-Mill Tax.
(Continued from Page 1)
water rate of $25 which he said
was too, low and had been
overlooked when other rates
were raised a few months ago.
No definite action was taken at
this meeting.
To defray the heavy expenses
of the city, to pay the $3,060.00
interest now due on the bonded
water system, and to help defray
the big item of new water mains,
the council voted a ten-mill tax.
Since the meeting, it is said that
several councilmen are trying to
raise the ten-mill levy as more
money must be raised.
