Condon were again during the fore part of the week reminded of the dire need of a modern opera house. Those who were present at the enter tainments on Monday and Tues day evenings deserve much credit in patronizing the public , school benefit To sit for several hours in a .cold building, with only two small oil stoves as an Htxcuse for heating purposes on anertremely cold night, is no small task; and this with the op "f inion of those who had purchased tickets early but who did not at tend on account of the poor heating equipment, only serve as more knocks on Condon's present accommodations for en tertainment purposes. Condon has always been known as a good - show town, for the many good attractions always bring crowded houses. But how long will the people suffer for hours in order to have a little laugh, and how long, at the present rate that audiences are getting smaller and smaller, will .London be able to secure outside talent? How such a building with Aim' By stage settings, without heat ing apparatus or other accom modations can be called an opera house for a town of 1800 inhabitants is most surprising! It is said that the proprietor of the skating rink is remodeling his building into an opera house, jtahd u proper alterations are made for the comfort of the patrons this improvement will be a godsend, while the proprietor Will be hailed a benefactor to the Community and his work re- . warded by the patronage or the people. ' " i It is not too early to remind the people of this vicinity of the annual rush of Christmas buyers, with the attendant exhaustion, which is bad enough for the buyers but a good deal harder on the clerks. Procrastination is not only the thief of time but also the source of much suffer ing, and the holiday purchases sewn to mean a more formidable task e very year. The many Btores of this city have on hand large stock of Christmas goods and purchasers may just as well get busy now. Our business men, through these columns, offer most generous bargains. They give you many hints as to suitable presents and are ready to supply you now. Why not do your buying with these mer chants who can give you the best in their stock at the present time ?
