L Chester Titus went to Mikkalo yesterday for a short visit at the home ranch. Mis3 Frances Brown went to Heppner on Wednesday for few days visit with relatives. Contractor Baylisa went to Portland yesterday morning on business and will return tomor row. J. W. Beckon and family, who have made their home in this city for the past few months. left for Portland yesterday to make their home during the winter. Mr. Beckon was book keeper for the Gilliam county mill. District Attorney, J. E. Bur- dette came up from Arlington Wednesday. jonn van Morn of tossu was registered at the Hotel Oregon on Wednesday. Wia Shaw was in this city few days this week from his ranch in Kahler Basin where he recently moved. He reports that everything in that section is looking very favorable. While here he renewed his subscription to the Globe. Chas. Hensley and Riley Felt ner, two boys who live near Olex, were arrested on Wednesday and brought to Condon by Acting Constable Dan Hildebrand, on the charge of stealing some goose decoys belonging to B. K. aearcy or tnis city. They were given a hearing before Justice Wheir on Wednesday evening and as no evidence was produced to show that they were guilty, were aquitted. According to to these reports it is probable that con struction work will be started within a short time. The sur veyors are now at work at Burnt Ranch on the John Day River. If the ladies who wish the privilege of the Condon Athletic Club rooms for an evening dur ing the week will meet at the office of Supt Sturgill on Monday evening at 7:30, arrangements will be made for saire and plans for a basket ball team will be dis cussed. Remember that it is not neccessary for you to play basket ball in order to be grant ed these privileges. F. F. Hanna, former manager of the Plateau Co's ranch in the north part of the county, is now located at Canby, Oregon, where he recently bought a grocery, confectionery, and bakery store. In writing to the Globe Mr. Han na says that ne is enjoying a good business and perfectly con tented in his new location but he wishes the Globe be sent to him "to keep him posted on what the Wheat City is doing." That he has still a warm spot in his heart for Gilliam may be seen as he fin ished his letter by, "Wishing the Globe prosperity and that the Wheat City may always keep growing." 20 is pre- pairing to build house. . new school Mrs. F. The Altar Society of the Catholic church will hold a bazaar in the new St Thomas Aquinas Academy on the 8th, 9th and 10th of December. A play will be rendered on the evening of the 8th, the name of which will appear in these col umns next week. The proceeds of the bazaar are to go to the benefit of the Academy and the patronage on this account should be large. JoeNitschke has all the idle urchins m the neighborhood out looking for wild goose eggs. He says the present crop of wild geese are just a little too wild, that they are in too great a hurry and show no disposition to slow up when he is trying to get a shot It is the intention of Mr. Nitschke to plant the eggs next spring and start a goose ranch. He will clip the wings of the tame wild geese and allow amateur sportsmen from Condon and The Dalles, who can't hit a balloon at twenty paces, to bang away at the domesticated web-footers at so much per shot He figures that it will amuse the hunters without injuring the birds and add many ducats to his stock of worldly wealth.
