The James Larch house, occu
pied by Ed Schott and family,
caught fire last Saturday, and
but for the timely arrival of the
"Clem Bucket Brigade" would
have burnt to the ground. The
boys arrived on the scene in time
to put out the fire before rruch
damage was done.
W. A. West and Frank Lewis
were business visitors here last
week.
Henry Wilkins left on Monday
for Lost Valley to round
up about two hundred head
of steers that he had sold to a
Washington buyer. Mr. Wilkins
anticipates a hard winter and
being short of feed wishes to
dispose of the greater part of
his herd, which before this sale
numbered about Bix or seven
hundred head.
Con Schott and Lester Wade
were in town the first of the
week.
The Kerr, Gifford Warehouse
Co. shipped a carload of wheat
this week.
J. L. Chandler was a passen
ger to Condon Monday.
B. K. Searcy and John Scott
came down from Condon Mon
day on their way to Blalock to
hunt geese. C. A. Danneman
met them here with a team and
wagon and drove them to their
hunting ground.

ter. Ross Beeson arrived here from
Coburg, Oregon last Tuesday ev
ening to visit with relatives.
A. Boyce came up from Olex
Tuesday to look after his chopper
which is at work in this vicinity.
Two loads of lumber came in
from- Winlock Wednesday, one
for Wm. Keys and one for E. A.
Stinchfield.
