This is the com mon remark heard on the streets. It is regretful It is a serious condition that confronts the Wheat City, one destined to re tard to a marked degree the growth of the town. Condon is doing herself injustice by not having comfortable houses to rent. The word is being passed 'around that there is no use to come to Condon to live for there are no houses available. The situation will prove a rather costly method of advertising the home town. Local capitalists owe something to Condon. The resourceful and fertile soil has produced abundantly, the range has fattened large herds and flocks, the newness of the coun try and its remoteness from com mercial centers has contributed to make business profitable here. Those who have made money because of local conditions and resources should do their share to build up Condon. Houses are needed here. Mrs. Delia Mustard who has been visiting Mrs. L. T. Price during the summer left for Yak ima, Wash., on Wednesday morn ing accompanied by Miss Fay Price. They will visit relatives for two weeks. Mooaa, Register. rOLTOKOIiXTIAR sodas Prevent. PiMtrtaeaJa Wm. Welch returned Tuesday from a two months' visit in Port land. ' Dan Thouvenel went to Tort land on Wednesday where he ex pects to work for some time. Miss Cora Newton, of Corval lis, was the guest of her friend, Mrs. G. W. Parman for a few days the past week, while on her way to Spokane where she will spend the winter. If the poor little, bay horse who was down, his fore leg in terlaced by the reins and fasten ed over the neck yoke if the un fortunate animal had the power of speech he would undoubtedly implore "Andy" Carnegie for a medal for his deliverer. It came to the lot of the youth on his first arrival in Oregon to free a struggling, choking horse tied at the hitching rack in front of The Globe office. The rescuer was Leslie Harlan who had just arrived from Traer, Iowa, to spend several months in the greatest state in the Union. It came about in this way. A team was hitched in front of the office, one of the animals became impatient and fretful. It fell and was not able to get back on its feet The more the beast strug gled the more securely fastened it became. Passers-by saw the struggling beast They called for help. The Iowan responded rushed to the horse and with might and main freed the en tangled animal and thereby saved its life. When the owner of the team returned he found his horses partly unharnessd and unhitched from the vehicle, he may have been angry, thinking a joke had been perpetrated on him. He should be grateful that the horse still lives. Quick Relief for Asthma Sufferers.
