With the election over and the assurance of great crops of grain and fruit, the people of Oregon should "get busy" to exploit ' the splendid resources of the state more than ever before. The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo sition offers an opportunity of rare excellence for Oregon to make the finest exhibit of any state to be represented at that great "fair. The Oregon Com mission has now under construc tion at Seattle a magnificent state building which promises to 4heiSrgest and most complete on the grounds. It is proposed to make a collective exhibit of the state's resources in this build ing and it is of the utmost im portance that a thorough and attractive exhibit be obtained from each of the various coun ties. It is opportune that Gil liam county and Condon the greatest primary grain shipping point in the United States, be adequately represented by worthy exhibit in the Oregon state building. The county court together with the commercial interests of the city and the progressive ranchers of the county, should take up the work at once of collecting materials for this exhibit The crops of this year will have to be used asiheT the exposition opens June 1, 1909 which is too earlyf&rnext year's crop. It isfffportant that these specimens be gathered at tne i uijci Lime lui ij. uicv cue urci' ripe they will not do for exhibit ion purposes: hence the necess ity of acting in due time. After the county exhibit is collected it will be taken to Seattle installed and maintained without further expense to the county. For the third time the voters of Oregon have declared themselves against woman suffrage and yet before the smoke of the battle has cleared away the women suffragists ar planning to cir culate petitions that the cons titutional amendment be passed upon by the voters of the state two years hence. ihe move ment is gaining strength but for various reasons the men of Ore gon appear to look upon woman suffrage as too radical a step to take at this time. The defeat at the late election comes as a serious disappointment to the zealous women who conducted the campaign for the franchise but the leaders are determined to win and already the bugle call has been sounded to renew the fight If the women of Oregon really desire to vote they must convince the men of that fact When this is done, the men will do their part Let the suffrag- isis snow wnat proportion oi the Oregon women are desirous to.become voters and they will have a convincing argument 'that will hasten the success of their cause. Tell it to your neighbor; ask him to pass it on "Condon will celebrate the Fourth." Political Information. Registration reopens Sept 20. Close for election October 20.
