L Goodwin and Mary E. Reynolds were united in mar riage on Monday at 11 o'clock in the parlors of the Hotel Ore gon, Kev. Curran officiating. The bride and groom reside near Gwendolen where they will make their home in the future. Hurlburt returned Tues day evening from a few days' business trip in Portland. Mr. Marvel of near Olex has bought a 311 acre farm near Dilley, Washington Co. A marriage license was issued in Portland on April 15th to A. L. Hudson of Gooseberry, Ore., and Anna M. Gruol of Portland. Mrs. Jay Bowerman returned last evening from a short visit in Pendleton. W. H. Morrison came up from Arlington on Thursday for a few days visit. He is in the employ of the Kerr, Gifford Warehouse Company at Arlington and will return in the morning. The vote cast today will settle the question as far as some politicians are concerned. George Wasson has closed his stock of groceries and is manag ing the Pastime for B. K. Searcy. The room will be divided and two pool tables installed in the near future. Jno. Elias, who has been on his- homestead for some time, working at ..his trade of sign painting. . - ' ' Robert Palmer of this city was committed to the asvlum at Sa lem this week and attendants ar rived on Tuesday's train, return ing Wednesday. Mr. Falmer is well known in Gilliam and Wheel er counties, and was sane until a week' ago when he began drink ing. Although sobered up for a aay or two. the reaction finally made him a raging maniac At times while in the county jail he was dangerous to those who at tended him. "Bob" Palmer, as ail knew him, has lived in Con aon lor many years, and has been working at odd jobs besides being janitor of the court house and the Condon National Bank. He had been on the blacklist of the saloons for many years until lately, and had been sober for many months.
