Snell ' , 17.00 Condon had the appearance of a metropolitan city on Wednes day when a large number of peo ple from every section of the countv came m to attend the Gigantic Clearance Sale at the Dunn Bros.' store. Within a few minutes after the opening of the doors for the special sale the Btore was overcrowded with bar gain hunters"1 ' and the in creased number of salesmen were unable to attend to the demands of the prospective buyers. The immense stock'! has been placed within easy reach of all and marked down to the lowest possible price. When these goods have been sold out, the best and most up-to-date stock the mar ket affords will be placed on the , shelves. -, . ' SCHOOL TO OPEN UMl The dav for the opening of the nublic schools of this city Bas been set for Monday, Sept ember 16th and it will be only a few davs before the merry chat ter of the children on their way to and from the school room will be heard. The school board has been able to secura one the best corps of teachers in the state and the narents will have reason to feel proud of the work done by their children during the ensuing year. Several new teachers have been added and all come to this city with the highest reccommenda tlona. The teachers are:' J. C. Sturgill, Principal; Clara Irvin, of Aurora, Assistant Principal; Laura Simmons, of Fossil; Robi na Smith, Oregon Agricultural College: Ella McArthur; Belle Ranney; and Gertrude Brehaut, of Portland. They have not been assigned to their special grades but it is known that. Miss Irvin will have charge of the majority of the classes of the eleventh grade, which is to be added to the high school work. Since the school board has de-' cided not to build the addition of ! the two rooms to the main build dinar this fall, the Church of! Christ building has been rented and is to be fitted up with new desks and blackboards which were purchased the first of the week. It will be occupied by two of the lower grades under the supervision of one teacher. The Sisters of St Dominic re turned from Aberdeen. Wash., last night and will open school next Monday.
