The ratiflcatiou of the people's choice for United Slates Senator by our State Legislature, is not only a personal triumph for Senator Bourne, but a triumph for the prin ciple that Senators should be elect ed by the direct vote of the people. In spite of Senator Bailey's con nection with the Standard Oil Co., the Texas Legislature has again re turned him to the U. S. Senate. Texas undoubtedly needs a prima ry law. The editor of a newspaper who refuses to take a positive stand on matters of local or general interest soon merits the contempt of the thinking men of the community. Such a man is tolerated for the simple reason that he is content to shine in the dim light of his own insignificance. Steiwer of Wheeler and Bower man of Gilliam have represented this district in the Senate. Isn't it about time for Sherman county to sit up and partake ot the ' Sena torial pie?
