Allen of this city came in from Arlington last week and has accepted a position with the S. B. Barker Co. Mr. Allen has been head clerk at Shurte !c Weir Co'a for the past year. One of the most delightfnl of the Saturday evening dancing parties held in the Armory hall of this city was that of last Satorday evening. The enjoy ment of those in attendance on this oc casion was complete. T. Wheatley of the Palonse country is here this week looking over Gilliam county wheat land with a view to buy ing. Mr. Wheatlev is an extensive wheat raiser of the Falouse being pro prietor of more than 400 acres of that famous wheat land. Maude and Rollo Stephens, who have heretofore made their home with Mr. . W. F. Settlemier who'resides on a ranch near Heopner Junction, camp to Con don last Thursday to make their home with relatives here. They are niece and nephew of John and Oscar l'ort wood. C. F. Kennedy, who has been at Pen dleton for sometime past viniting his family who reside there, returned to Condon Monday. Mr. Kennedy has been assigned by the Pacific Coat Ele vator Company to a station at Connell, Washington, for which place he led Wednesday. Condon regrets to lose Mr. Kennedy. Tha firm of Shurte & Weir, which has for several vears been one of the leading firms of Arlington, and successors to J. W. Smith who made a fortune in the mercantile business in the earlier days of Arlington, have made an assignment, Walter H. Moore having been appointed as assignee by the wholesale firms inter ested in the assignment. A reception will be tendered to the Rev. Mr. Mount, who has been assigned to the Baptist charge in this city, and who is expected to arrive here the latter part of the week. The recep tion will be Saturday evening at the Baptist church. It is expected the family of Rev. Mount will not remove here until after the first of the year. B. F. Myick, an old time Umatilla county man, a resident of that county for twenty years, has jnat purchased a tract of half a section of land lying three miles to the southwest from town. He will have the place seeded to wheat this fall remaining in Umatilla countv to attend to his numerous interests there. Mr. Myrick ts much pleased with Gilliam county and mav decide to remove here should he dispose of his Umatilla coun ty holdings. Were Married Sunday. The wedding of James B. Shea and Mary E. Donaldson was solemnized last Sunday by Rev. G. W. Riggs at the Congregational church in this city. The bride and groom were both residents of Condon and are popular young people, the former being a daughter of Mrs. John Harrison. Mr. Shea is a restau rant keeper whose place of business is on Main street. The Globe joins friends of the contracting parties in well wishes for their future happiness and prosperity.
