Peter Sah, Sr. of Cecil, l here this
week with liii family visiting his eon,

Mr. and Mre. F. B. Stevens left Satur
day morning for Portland to take in the
big Fair. They were on the passenger
list of the first scheduled train out of
Coudon.
Dr. Mary Bowerman and Miss Hun
sacher left for Portland Saturday morn
ing to visit the Fair and spend a vaca
tion with friends at Saletu and other
Valley points.
Andrew Neel, of Lone Rock, was in
town during the week taking in the
celebration. Mr. Neel has just finished
a fine barn on his ranch which is one of
the very best in the county. The struct
ure is 66x100 and is framed from hewn
timbers. It is one of the kind our grand-,
fathers used to build.
Mr and Mrs. R. 11. Robinson, of Arl
ington, came out Sunday to spend the
Fourth in Condon. They expected lo
make the trip in their new automobile
but as they were starting a slight break
in the machine made it necessary for
ihein to change, their plans and take the
old fashioned stage coach.
Andrew Keller, representing the East
ern Oregon Brewery, of The Dalles, was
on deck in the parade Tuesday with a
big doat loaded to the guards with kegs
and bottles of the famous Inderwies
.beer. Several hundred small bottles
were distributed to the crowd as the
parade progressed and every body had a
show to have beer for lunch if they
wanted it.
Mrs. M. B. Baker last Saturday closed
a deal with L. M. Hawley for the lease
of the Condon hotel property and the
purchase of the furniture ai.d fixtures.
Mrs. Baker has had some experience in
the note! business and with her ability
will doubtless make a success of her
venture. She will be assisted in the
management of the business by her son
Charlie.
F. T. Hnrlhurt. ol Shaniko, .V. Lord,
of The Dallee, and M. W. Hunt, super
intendent of the Portland Flouring
Mills, came out Mondav Hint spent the
Fourth in this city. The gentlemen
were here to make final arrangements
for the erection of the bniiding for the
Gilliam Count? Milling Co's. plant
. which will be started at once. The mill
will have a capacity of from 200 to 250
barrels of flour a day. The com pan
has contracted for the drilling of a well
to enpply water for the use of the mill
and other industries in which the com
pany or its members may become interested.
