Young Andre CUrno has a pig on his ranch, by the John Day river, that ia a freak fit for a dime museum. The p'g's mother died soon after his tirth and ha was adopted by a female dog, which ia suckling hint along with her papa. Fossil Joarual. LONE ROCK. Carl Stahl, an old and respected resi dent died at his home near this place, Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, of paralysis id tha brain, aged 67 years and 10 months. Mr. Stahl had been a resident of this place for the past 19 years and leaves three sous and one daughter, all residents of thisplace.excepting William who lives in Minnesota hot who was her at the time of his father's death, t'he many good qualities of "Father Stahl." as ha was commonly called will never be forgotten for he was a devoted Christian and always had a kind word and a lov ing heart which made friends of all who knew him. Rev. Beightol. of Heppner conducted the funeral Wednesday and his remains were laid to rest in the Lune Kck cemetery. F. H. Robinson and family moved to lone the first of tha week, Several of oar people went to Fossil to the Caledonian meeting. They were Dutch, Irish and English but when they get to Fossil are all supposed to be Scotch and drink from the same mug. Dr. Luna was called from Condon Tnesday to administer to Maurice Guff who has been ou the sick list for several days. Rabbit Drive. The people of Eight-mile, a .valley 15 miles above Arlington, will have a big rabbit drive on Nov. 8. The drive will begin at 11 :00 a. m. ami it is expected that one thousand people will be present to assist in the capture of 2500 of these pests.
