last week the guests of their friends Jim

Campaign Opens.
The campaign was opened bore Mon
day evening on behalf of the democrats
ny Uol. w. e. Butcher, nominee tor con
ureas in tbla district. Mr. Butcher ia a
cyclone on the platform and he delivered
a logical speech In his own behalf. He
says he is going to be elected too, and
save some pretty good reasons why be
can do more for Oregon than any man
has done for years. On the whole' Mr,
Hu tcher made a good impression on his
Audience and impressed them as being a
man of considerable Independence and
force.
Sam E. Van Vector introduced the
speaker in a few eloquent and forceful
remarks for the party. A good sized

J, A. Richmond, of Ferry Canyon, re

after business interests. He reports a
very severe storm In that section Thurs

The wire was burned and broken Into

of rocks. It was one of the most do
