The er vices at the Congregational church Hunday morning were of special InUrett the occasion being the' baccalau reate sermon delivered by Rev. Mr, Cur ran to the graduating clat of the public school. The member of the clat, with their teacher, Prof. W, It. Neal, were present lo a body and occupied seata on the platform. The church was artistical ly decorated with cut flowers and otted plants and tbe clatt motto, "No Victory Without Labor," embellished the wall immediately back ol the altar. Some special muslo wat rendered by the choir and a targe congregation wa proeut an-i listened with marked attention to one of the most instructive sermon ever deliv ered in Condou. Mr. Curran chose a the subject of his remarks "The Victory of Labor" his text being found in II Timothy, 4, 7 8, "1 have fonght a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith : "Henceforth there ia laid up for me a crown of righteousnett, which the Lird the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and uot to me only, but unto all them alto that love hi appearing." Throughout the sermon the speaker emphasised the fact that a thorough training is nttomry in orJar to cope turenfu!ly with the problem of .life. He pointed out that there are three sources of training: (I) teachers, (2) books, (3 experience. The teacher de velops, stimulates, arouses; good books are the matured thought ol matter minds and are inapiring, lofty and rich. The most valuable book and the most profound It the Bible; Paradise Lott, Shakespeare, Tennyson, Homer andotb ert follow. Experience, at a teacher, It rough and severe but of incalculable value. A thorough training la necessary for everyone that he may perform effi cient work. The great works of art, oratory, literature and science have been the product of trained men. Paul, the apostle waa a well trained man and a great worker at may be aeen by bit writing, preaching and hit whole expe rience. Earnest, steady work will, in the eul, bring it sure reward. Ho ward it the logical remit of labor. In closing the speaker turned to the class and said : "Your labor has in creased your responsibility, made clear er tbe path of duty and points the way to your success. Your knowledge hat increabed your efficiency aud your labor ban brought and will bring it own re ward."
