We passed Dutch Harbor on Sunday evening, the 17th just as steer age passenger died o pneumonia. We did not atop but went right np north un til we struck tho ice on tho U'tb, We did not get out again for eight days and as we then bad our bow stove in and leak ing badly we bad to put back to Dutch Harbor after being within 100 miles of Nome. ' We stayed in Dutch Ilaiborand ('ualaska till June 10th when we left at ti A. M. and have managed to come through without seeing over 100 mile of ice Altogether, Several steamers were here already and several have been dam aged. We paused the steamer South Portland last evening, and helped her through the 'ice to dear water. Bhe had a largo hole In her bow covered with canvass. The steamer Cleveland is reported to lie on the beach at Nome. The .'.'Catherine Sudden" we left two week ago in the ice pack with her bows crushed and the crew intending lo aban don her. We had left hor about an hour w hen the brig l'itcairn went to her relief. This i a terrible trip. For two weeks we have had nothing but Stew, salt horse arid bash. The Catherine Sudden, tow ed in by Cutter Curwin, dismasted with 7 feet ol water in her hold, was sold at auction today. As far a the eye can see along the beach there is nothing but tents. We have not gone ashore yet but will go as soon as they can get the bag gage and lighters unloaded. The steam er Ohio arrived an boor before we did with a case of small pox on board and la now in quarantine. The schooner Kclipee is being towed in by a steam launch having been crushed by the ice and there are uncon tinned reports of sev eral other wrecks. Later.
