The democratic vtnte convention met in the Chamber of Commerce, at Port land, on Thursday of Inst week, at 10.30 A. M. State Chairman, U. 8. Sheridan, called the convention to order and Ooo. O. Cbauiborlala, of Multnomah, was chosen chairman by acclamation. The populists met on thesauio day and elect ed Frank Williams chairman and Dr. Erne-it Barton secretary. After a con sulfation between conference commit tee from each convention a fusion agree ment was reached and the following ticket was Dominated by the united par ties: Presidential elector Walter M. Railroad surveyor are reported at work on Kock Creek running aline from the mouth of the John Day to Canyon City. Thero Is no hurry about buying tickets or arranging for freight car over the new line, however. Ed. Temple, the photo man, who had a tussle with amallpoc here last winter, returned to town yesterday to finish up the work he had on band when taken sick and do all the new work that his customers want. Mr. Temple is suffici ently marked to prove beyond doubt that the disease he had wa genuine, but the public need have no fear of "catching" the smallpox from hi 111 now.
