Thinking it a good chance to visit her parent at Seattle, Mr a. Key accompanied her brother to tbat city and will return home after a visit of three or toor week. Since Mrs. Key' departure a mallclon rumor na been circulated stating in nhetance that, ow ing to family difficulties, ahe had left her home with no Intention of ever return ing. At thi assertion ia false and has no foundation whatever, the party who originated the libel will, if discovered, have bit hands full of trouble, as Mr. Key is justly indignant at the nnmerited notoriety the report ha given him, and he intends to right himself before the public, even though he has to use the law to do so. I T. ranch." Death of Samuel Slater. Death has again vUited a Condon home. This time it ha claimed Samu el Slater for its victim. Deceased passed awav Wednesday morning after an Illness of only one week. He had been suffering with pleurisy, which was followed by infltmatory rheumatism. Mr. Slater was horn In Ohio; hi age wm 0 vear. He had lived in several dfir-tvnt states, hut finally name to Ore goii in 1802, where be has since resided. He leave a wife, two daughters, Mrs Armstrong and Mr. Poag, and three sons to mourn his loss. It is needless to say that the grief stricken relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. Mr, Slater has been a devoted christian for 80 yeara.
