We are glad to see that the county printing has been awarded to the Glohk, which is read by everybody in the coun ty. It Is throwing away money to ad vertise in a paper having little or no circulation. ' The dance at Olei on 14th Inst, was a grand success. Olex has regained her lost prestige of giving good dance and there will bo another given here on Feb. 14th for tho boueflt of our school district. All the residents should help this time, for the money is for a worthy cause. Jeff Hayes says be would like to see the coyote bounty continued and that he would contribute liberally. This Is only an expression of many sheepmen in this vicinity. It looks like the Blteep men't Union would pay up arrears and continue the bounty, for unlsss the coyotes are exterminated they will soon be as thick as ever and the money ail lost. One sheepman In Lakecounty says bo lost f IJOOO worth ' of ibeep by coyotes last year, The mail contract from Arlington to Fossil baa been bid in for 1717, and that includes Sunday delivery one more day than In the past. Mr Hoed, the contractor, informs us that be put in a bid for f.'JOOO and says it cannot be car ried any chcaier. It looks like Mr Gard ner of Arkansas would have to fill bis own contract, as it will be hard to sub let it. People at the different stations ought not to cnt down on expense of feed and care of alago stock to starvation prices, as they bare had to do in the past in order for the contractor to live. - ii LONE ROCK RUMBLINGS. Stock Inspector Johnson went down to the Condon country Monday to dip some scabby sheep. Jim Bennett is crippled with the rheu matism, w hich causes bitn to travel side wise like a raccoon. Mrs Goff has been seriously ill the past week but we are pleased to note that she is letter at this writing. The weather this past week has taken quite a caper. First it blew and "anew," and thun it froezed and then it "thew." Everybody seems delighted because the winter months are fast drifting away without any serious storms up to this time. Although this warm, open winter Is excellent for cattle ' and borseB, it is not very good for sheep, as they are Inclined to want to travel all tho time and con sequently the weak ones have to be cull ed out and put in so pe rate bands. Notices are posted for a special school meeting in this district to vote a small school tax. This will of course start the calamity bowlers, who are always ready to nue their small influence to defeat everything that la intended to educate and better the rising generation of our land. Most every community has more of this class than they desire. Wildcats seem to have immigrated from some other locality to this in con siderable numbers lately, and they seem to have beon nsing some tonic to in crease their appetite for chicken, as they crave for thorn like a nigger. One killed something over 25 chickens in one uight for John M Brown, but he manugod to got the scalp of tho brute, after a bard "hand to paw" tussel in the dark. One of these same animals killed one of Col well's tamo wild goose that Billy caught tm the Columbia when young and were quite a curiosity, B. L. R R Hanklns picked np a band of 18 buck last week belonging to Robert Barfoot and turned them over to stock inspector Colwell, who pronounced them scabby. Colwell went at once and in spected all of Barfoot'a sheep, thinking they surely were scabby also, but he found them sound. Bob had taken the bucks out of bis band of sheep nearly two months ago. Hon A H Weatberford, who last sum mer bought the old Douglas ranch at Douglas, was in town a few days ago. Mr. Weatherford is a very agreeable gentleman and has many friends where he is known.
